{Monday’s With Bella}

February 10, 2010 - Leave a Response

Sorry sorry sorry!  I drove back to Kirksville today, so the posting of Monday’s With Bella got a bit delayed.

Here we go :)

I had this big plan of printing off a picture of Sara’s face and making it into a mask to wear when I go to get Bella out of bed……then I realized it would probably just scare the crap out of her.  So this Monday I walked in to her room and decided I was going to leave absolutely no room for “you’re not my mama” moments.  I immediately opened her blinds and started talking about the snow and asked her if she wanted to take a bubble bath.  We also needed to run to my apartment to grab my cell phone & I knew she would be excited about seeing my fish.

don’t ask me why I have fish….it’s a long story.

Anyway- I told her we could go see the fish.  After I bombarded her will all these suggestions, she was so excited to get up and get going.  We had no “you’re not my mama” melt downs.

I felt like I conquered the world.

Sara had warned me that Bella was possibly getting sick and might be a bit tired & cranky, so I let her just hang out in her PJ’s till about 10:00.  She was actually quite the opposite of what her mom thought she would be.  She was running all over the place, dancing, being silly, singing her abc’s, etc.

oh man you're so cute

Then She decided to situate herself on the couch to read her magazine (or her daddy’s magazine).  I don’t even know how describe how funny she was while she was doing this.  Hopefully the pictures will help.

Then she ate her Nutrigrain Bar with a shovel

Then we decided to take a bath because she didn’t get one on Sunday night.  Plus the warm bubble baths always help when their all stuffy, tired, coughy, etc.

Oh man I love it when they’re all cozy in their towels after baths, smelling like baby magic, all clean with no snot or crusty stuff on their face.  Then add a lady bug towel to the mix and they are beyond cute :)   Me on the other hand…not so cute.  No make up and no shower= only putting half my face in the picture.

After her bath we went to my apartment and grabbed my phone.  Then I decided to go to the gallery and let her run around for a bit.  I hadn’t been to my favorite store in a while (anthroplogie) and she was wanting to run & be silly.   Then we made it home just in time for lunch, coloring, dancing, calling papa multiple times & nap time.  Here is a picture of Bella enjoying her favorite food group: Hot Dogs.

Now I’m off to finish my editing from my Valentine’s Day shoots on Saturday.  Hopefully it goes quickly because I’m slllleeeeppppy…………

Night night :)

Just real quick before Bella Lou wakes up. Oh…should also tell you that my shoot with baby Utterback got postponed because Saturday night was a rough night for Utterback Family :-) We are planning to reschedule once I get back from Kirksville. What?? Me, going to Kirksville?? That’s weird. I leave tomorrow :-)

Did I ever show you these from our last day in Iowa?? We went to a lovely establishment in Carroll for breakfast….I think it was MC’s Cafe or something like that.

Side note : They have this M A S S I V E omelet called the Yellow Submarine that is so big it makes me want to vomit. It also comes with toast, bacon, hash browns and a bunch of other artery clogging side items. Of course you get a free T-Shirt if you order and actually eat the whole thing. You gotta have something that brings in the customers, right? Well…turns out Jared (Caroline’s boyfriend) achieved this daunting challenge when they went up to visit Kaitlin & Zane a few weeks ago. I’ve seen a picture! It’s true, he did it…and I’m sure no one in the café cared one little bit, ha! Believe me…I’ve been there…and I know they could care less about smiling, let alone some one eating the Yellow Submarine. The food is very yummy though, so I will go back next time I go to Iowa…which will be when it’s warm :-)

Ok- back to the pictures I wanted to show you that just make me laugh. I totally forgot to post these. My mom and I ended up sitting at a booth with Jackson, Ellie & Briley sitting across from us while everyone else sat at the big kid booth. It was a pretty funny breakfast. Jackson & Ellie wanted Chocolate milk….Briley preferred regular milk….Jackson & Ellie wanted just bacon for breakfast…Briley preferred some Mickey Mouse pancakes. My mom & I totally let them eat bacon & chocolate milk for breakfast. They were on a trip with their grandma, papa & aunt…you can do stuff like that when your parent’s aren’t around. They were funny during breakfast and they tried their hardest to get our waitress to smile at them. She never smiled at them. Even after they kept changing their orders between pancakes & bacon, wearing heart shaped sunglasses, dancing, making funny faces, etc. My mom and I smiled & laughed, but Snookie (NO JOKE…her name was Snookie) wouldn’t even grin. She was probably devastated about Jersey Shore ruining her name. Anyway- these pictures make me smile. It’s so crazy to think about a time before I had nieces & nephews. It seems like they are now my world and everything they do makes me laugh :) When everyone is home over the holidays or when it just happens to be a big weekend in Kirksville, my friends will call me to see if I want to go up to the Dukum or TP’s. That’s what everyone does, you go up to the bars to see everyone. Most of the time, I just can’t do it. It’s not like I didn’t want to go so anyone…I really want to go see everyone and talk to people I haven’t talked to in a long time, but….those kids get me every time and I never want to leave. I would rather stay and be the fun aunt that gives baths with an insane amount of bubbles, has dance parties, accidentally let’s Jackson drink my wine, comes up with games like “pillow case wrestling”, has sleepovers, makes them say “no see it” 12 times because it sounds like “no shit” hahaha, take pictures to remember all those moments, etc. I love being an aunt and I think I prefer to invest more in my family than anything else :) ………..I still like to up to the bars every now and then though….so, see you soon!

Bella woke up few minutes ago and we are now successfully snuggled up on the couch watching Imagination Movers (don’t even get me started on how creepy they are) without any crying. Our morning meet & greet wasn’t as bad this morning as it was last Monday….but you will have to wait until tomorrow to hear all about it. I know you can hardly contain yourself ;-)

P.S.- We have to get ready and run over to my apartment because I left my cell there.  So….if you’re trying to call me…I don’t have my phone.

Holy babies!

Every time I saw a car seat today….my heart skipped a beat :-)  So many babies, so many toddlers & so much fun!  All my families today were beyond cute.

Some l-o-v-e-d  the cookies, some would not fall for my bribery attempts, some smiled till they were blue in the face, some wanted me to play with them and not chase them with my silly camera, some wanted to explore my apartment, they all loved my fish Frank & Pedro, one loved my bathroom (the bathroom I hate), one ate cookies like nobody’s business, one refused to look at my camera (but I still managed to get some shots of her…yes!), one had the cutest dress I’ve ever seen, one had the cutest dinosaur I’ve ever seen, one of them unknowingly made the silliest faces, some wanted to old their baby brother, others were busy and didn’t have time to do silly little things like holding their baby brother, etc.  One thing I’m certain of…..all of them are future heart breakers :-)

Today was a lot of fun and very productive despite the fact that I did 6 itty bitty shoots.  I was able to get up this morning and work-out, clean & run to Target before my first shoot at 10:00.  I did my first 4 shoots and then went to lunch with Sara & Bella.  They came over to help me and I also wanted to get some pictures of Ms. Sassy Pants, but she decided to get nice and dirty before I could get to her…so we just decided to leave and go to lunch.  After lunch I was able to get back to my apartment and sweep up some dried frosting & lots of red sprinkles, ha!  I also got to organize/weed out & start editing my first batch of shoots for sneak peeks.  Then my last two shoots started rolling in around 3:30 and we were done a little after 4:00.  Awesome!   I moved my apartment back to its usual set up, cleaned up some more frosting & sprinklers, heated up some of my yummy chicken noodle soup I made the other night & started editing away.

It’s now 10:00 and I have all my sneak peek pictures edited, uploaded and ready to post.  Yayyyyy!!!!  Now I think I’m going to park myself on my couch with my blanket, a movie and……….my computer so I can edit as I watch my movie :-)

See…that’s the thing about running your own business and doing your own thing…you always “work”, but the trade-off is that it doesn’t feel like work, you have that indescribable feeling you get when you know you’re doing what you love, it always makes you happy and sometimes you get to “work” from your cozy couch.  Love it :-)

Enjoy your sneak peek everyone!!!  Thanks for coming to visit me today :-)

I want her dress!!! Surely they have it in my size...right??

then someone got very, v-e-r-y, v – e – r – y sllleeeepppyyyy

oh melt my heart

I have a newborn shoot tomorrow, so check back for another sneak peek for Baby Utterback :-)

{A La Carte Pricing}

February 4, 2010 - 2 Responses

Hey there!  I just wanted to let everyone know about my new A La Carte pricing.  I still have all my regular packages, but now I’ve added a few things that people ask for now and then.

I  get a lot of requests to double book a mini shoot and that is one of the main reason’s I’ve added the 1- hour photo shoot to my A La Carte Price list.  The Mini shoot is already such a discounted rate/package, that it doesn’t really make a lot of sense for me to allow people to double book them.  I always end up allowing people to double book them because I’m horrible at saying no  :-)

Well, that is why I’ve added it to my A La Carte list.  So…if you want a small shoot but don’t have $270 to spend & don’t think a 30min Mini Shoot will be enough…now I can suggest the $150 1 Hour photo shoot.

A La Carte Pricing

 1 Hour of Shoot Time……$150
(includes hour of shoot time, color editing for up to 30 photos, hi-res image uploading & copyright release)
 4×6 Prints….$1.50/Print
 Hi-Res Photo CD…..$20/each
 Black & White Edits…$1.25/Photo

Yayyyy!  Fun for everyone :)  P.S.- These prices are also listed in the “My Photo Packages” section.

Next I would like to show you all  my new studio!!!!!  That’s right, my brother-in-law Andrew loves me so much that he decided to build me a studio.  He will occasionally use it as a law office.

Kidding :-)

Andrew is in the process of building his new office and he has a top floor that he doesn’t plan on using just yet.   It was actually his idea that I use it as a studio.  Of course I said yes and of course he’ll kick me out when he find someone who will pay him rent :)

We all went over to see it the other day while I was back in Kirksville.  Here are some pictures!

Temporary studio....nice, eh??

If you’re curious, you can go to Allison’s blog to see more pictures of the bottom floor and more of an explanation where everything is.

My St. Louis Valentines Day Itty Bitty Shoots are this Saturday, woo hoo!  I still have spots open, so give me a call to sign up!

{Mondays With Bella}

February 2, 2010 - 4 Responses

I’m starting to think that Monday’s aren’t the best day for Bella.  She a hated me yesterday morning…HATED ME.

I heard her up in her room saying “mammmmaaaaa!”  Dadddddyyyyyyy!”  in her cute little voice.  She was all happy and ready to get up for the day…until…I walked in her room.

She looked at me, threw her head back, started crying and saying “noooooooo!”, kicking her legs, etc.  What the heck???  Monday’s are the most fun!  Why are you crying??  I went over to her crib and asked her if she wanted to go play and watch Mickey Mouse Club house (usually get’s her every time) and she swatted at my hand and told me “NO!  mama, mama, mama”  I was finally able to coax her out of the crib (still crying) and we went downstairs.  We went in the kitchen to get her milk and breakfast and that’s when she saw her juice sitting in the fridge.  She immediately started saying, “juice!, Juice!, Juice!”  and when I told her she had to drink her milk first…she had another meltdown on me.

So, there we sat on the couch.  Bella still kinda crying, watching Handy  Manny and every now and then saying, “no….no….” and at one point and she busted out the “no way!!”  All the while, I’m sitting there not saying anything, just checking my email, waiting for her to get over her morning  ‘I just spent the whole weekend with my parents and I don’t like it when I wake up on Monday and their gone’ grumpiness.  It’s totally understandable and I know she is just sad….so I just give her time and wait until she remembers how much fun we can have on Mondays :-)

Within 10 minutes or so she was climbing all over me, making me tea & desserts from her kitchen, trying to make me put on her daddy’s shoes (she does this every Monday for some reason), telling me about “cook” (cookie monster) on her diaper for the 100th time, stacking shoes on the side table (this is new), drinking her milk, etc.

She also loves to put her shoes on over her footed pajamas.  She does this all the time, even though it doesn’t work 100% of the time and she get’s extremely frustrated 100% of the time.

We had a fun day of shopping and Bella got to go to her favorite store, Hobby Lobby.  After shopping we came home for some lunch.  She loves to be goofy :)

I  had planned on bundling her up and taking her outside for a bit, but she didn’t want to go.  She all of a sudden has this big fear of snow and there is still a little bit of it in her front yard, so she wont go near it.  Instead of going outside we had another tea party.

I wasn’t invited to this one….but I also wasn’t allowed to leave the living room.  I had to be at the tea party, but I couldn’t partake.  I tried to sneak some of the dessert, but I got caught.

So then I decided to hide all stuff when she went back to the kitchen to get more desserts.

She came back with a frying pan full of more desserts and was totally confused.  She threw her hands up in the air and said something along the lines of “where did it go?”

I said, “I don’t know…what’s it to you??”  She said, “give me my desserts!”  and I said, “you let me have some tea and dessert…and I will give you back your stuff.”   Then she said, “okay, I will go make your dessert with my own hands….after I do THIS!”

I said, “GROSS!!!  I still want my drink.”  So she agreed and hurried off to the kitchen to get my drink and that’s when I yelled, “Hey Bella, Aunt Lissy doesn’t want any stinkin’ tea!  Give me a cranberry & vodka…it’s been a rough day & your going down for your nap.”  She said, “What?!?!?”

Hahahahha!

Sara & Ryan made roast beef sandwiches last night.  Yummy yummy!  Bella also got to open her Valentines Day gift from Grandma & Papa Early.  How cute are these???  My mom had them made for all the grandkids and each one is a little different.   They all have their first initial on them and they say, “loved”.

We will all be home for Valentines Day because we will be doing a “work weekend” on our basement.  Long story, but basically we are updating it and getting ready for our expanding amount of grandkids & family members.  Anyway- since we will all (most of us) be home for Valentines Day, my parent’s will be having a party and all the kiddos get to wear their new shirts.  So cute :)

HAPPY TUESDAY!!!  You made it through Monday, congratulations :-)

{Sneak Peeks}

January 30, 2010 - 3 Responses

I’ve hung out with some super cute kiddos the past day or so :-)

Yesterday morning I made Lincoln be a guinea pig for some 6 month shoot practice.   See…that’s the fun thing if you’re related to me…you get free pictures because I’m always using your kids for practice.   Lincoln was in an exceptionally happy mood yesterday (who am I kidding?  that kid is always happy), so we just kept going and going with his pictures and we ended up getting lots of keepers.  Such a cutie :)

Then it was time of Mr. Carson’s Valentines Day pictures.  We did a lot of jumping and we took lots of pictures of Puppy :)  He really likes taking pictures with my camera, so he would go set Puppy up on the bucket and then run back to me so we could take a picture.  He did a very good job (his mom didn’t think he would because he’s not really a fan of pictures at this point) and I think I took more pictures of his little sneakers than I did of him, ha!  So so so cute :)

Yesterday we also had our wonderful computer guy Steve over to fix our mess of wireless computers & printers & routers.   Just to let you know how bad it was…he was here pretty much all day.  He brought his little girl Grace along and she and Ellie played the entire time!  She was so adorable and she decided to hop right up for some Valentines Day pictures and I couldn’t resist.   Adorable :)

Yesterday was also the high school Courtwarming pep assembly & games, so we spent yesterday running around to all Molly’s events as well.  She did awesome in all her routines and I might embarrass her and put some pictures on sometime within the next day or so :)

I also have a sneak peek for cute baby boy named Cash.  He came over this morning for this 7 month shoot and he did not disappoint :)  Cash is doing the Time Flies When You’re Having Fun Package!  and I can NOT wait till his next one.  Oh man he is so cute!  Chubbiness every where, his little bitty toes, spit bubbles, red hair, on and on!  SO CUTE!  He had lots and lots of great pictures and I think his mom & dad are going to be so excited :)  Thanks for coming over Cash and enjoy your sneak peek!

Hello hello!  I made it back to Kirksville safe & sound.  I was greeted by Mr. Carson (who got a big boy hair cut today and looks so tall and grown up) and big hug :-)   He is talking more and more and it’s so much fun!  I love it when they start talking…it always keeps me so entertained, ha!  Amanda is also getting very big and she still has to make it to May.  Colton & Carolina are growing like weeds and at the rate they’re going, they’ll probably show up in April :)  It should be a fun little weekend with Carson & Amanda being back and all the Farwell kiddos coming over.

Actually, Lincoln called me tonight to schedule his arrival tomorrow.  He said they would come over after their much-needed Wal-Mart trip.  Ellie is fresh out of her girl Pull Up’s and she just can’t bring herself to wear those ugly boy Pull Up’s.  Plus he said he was out of diapers too and he was kinda hoping to get a new toy…he said his plan was to just shoot his mom a big smile and bat his big blue eyes.  apparently he’s had a 90% success rate with that technique.  Ali is such a sucker.

Ok- do you remember in my last post that I said I had taken pictures of St. Joe church in Edina??  Well, I wanted to post some for you to see.  I really like the way they turned out and I’m pretty sure I got bumped up to my mom’s favorite kid for at least 2 weeks.   Seriously, I think she bought me a car because she was so happy with the pictures…….. fingers crossed :)

She is actually sitting in the chair right next to me and I just said, “hey mom…you’re really going to love my post tonight….ha!”

now she is saying “what??  what are you talking about?  You didn’t take any pictures of me today.  Lissy!  Lissy!  (I’m ignoring her at this point)  LISSY!!!  You’re mother is talking to you!  What are you putting in your post??”

oh so funny!  I love messing with my mom :)  Enjoy the pictures!!!

{Monday’s With Bella….and some other stuff}

January 26, 2010 - 3 Responses

Ahhhh, I’m sorry I’m late!  It’s been an editing fest around here and I can’t bring myself to stop to update the blog.

This past Thursday I went and took pictures of St. Joe church in Edina.  This is the church my mom grew up going to, the church my parents got married in, the church we go to for Midnight Mass, the church my sister got married in, the church my niece & nephew got baptized in, etc.  It a very important part of our lives and they have recently “renovated” it and they will be doing a dedication in February.  One of my relatives asked if I could take some pictures that they could use for the dedication.

So, my mom and I drove over to Edina and I took lots and lots of pictures that I LOVE and then got home just in time to do all my valentines day shoots.  Part of the deal of the Valentines Day shoots was a quick turn around time, so I planned on busting out that editing first and very quickly once I got back to St. Louis….well….we made the 4 hour trip from Carroll to Kirksville and then I made the 3 hour trip from K irksville to St. Louis and then I got a call late on Sunday night (as I was editing V-Day shoot pictures) saying that the committee for St. Joe Church set up a little meeting for TUESDAY afternoon to check out all my pictures I took……………..um…………seriously??  I typically have a 2-3 week turn around time for a shoot with that many pictures!  Of course I said, “oh that’s fine!   I will have them ready for you” and then I hung up the phone and said “damn it!”…..I’m sure God loved that one.

I got them done by 1:00 this afternoon & uploaded.  whew!  I also have majority of my Valentines Day shoots done and their Valentines Day cards designed.  Now I just need to finalize it all and upload them this evening.  whew!

I also watched little Miss Bella Boo in the midst of this editing frenzy.

What??  did you think I would forget Mondays With Bella???  NO WAY!  (no way is Bella new favorite saying)

Yesterday Bella and I went to the Science Center.  I know it’s really not the perfect place for someone her age, but she is pretty much entertained by anything she can mess with, organize, sort, run on, jump on, etc….and the Science Center has a lot of that.

We had a tea party before we left.  Bella took all the tea :)

She was pretty funny in this perspective distortion room.  She got scared and just started to crawl, then cry, then slide down to the bottom.  We moved on quickly :)

She loved this turtle!  Didn’t love this stool quite as much.

loved these stacking rings…LOVED them.  Actually, she got a little possessive when another little boy tried to mess up her stack :)

We found out Bella weighs 29 lbs.  This totally helped me visualize my weight loss goal, ha!  I need to lose one and a half Bellas!

I thought she wouldn’t be a big fan of this guy.  We walk down there and I’m expecting her to grab my neck and start  saying, “nooooooo!  noooooo!”  but no…what does she do??  she stares at him for a few seconds, gets a big smile on her face and says, “teeeeeth!” .  She really liked his big teeth.  Then he roared and she figured out he wasn’t smiling at her and she wanted nothing to do with him.

We hung out at this little fake aquarium for a while and Bella learned all about The Mississippian Period.  Lots of “feeeish”

Then we learned all about volcanos!!!  (or maybe we just pushed buttons on the computer thing for 10 minutes)

Then I discovered that Bella loved the Earthquake platform.  Loved it so much that I couldn’t get her to come down.

We had a pretty good visit and we got home just in time for some lunch, play time & then nap time.

She was all about messing with my camera before her nap.

Thanks so much for the fun day Bella Boo.  See you next Monday :)

xoxoxo, Aunt Lissy

GUESS WHAT????  I’m going back to Kirksville…again…this Thursday!  This little boy & his mamma are visiting and I must go see them.  Absolutely must :)  Anyway- I just figured I would throw it out there in case anyone wants some pictures while I’m home.

Update on my Car situation- I received all my letters in the mail and now I need to start stalking the credit bureaus (I was told to do this) to make sure they correct everything as quickly as possible.  Also…my car I had picked out is gone :(  as are the other 2 runner up’s I had picked out.  I knew it was going to happen.  So now I’m back on the hunt and so far I’ve had no luck.  I know, I know…everything happens for a reason.

{Who decided Iowa in January was a good idea??}

January 23, 2010 - 2 Responses
Greetings from the Carroll Iowa!!!  It’s miserable here…ha!

Yesterday me, my mom & my dad planned on packing up and making the 4 hour trip up to visit Kaitlin & Zane.  Andy, Autumn & Briley were also going to be meeting us there.  Well, last minute we decided to bring Jackson & Ellie along with us.

The car ride was entertaining to say the least.  About an hour into the trip Jackson started the, “Hey, hey….HEY GRANDMA!  Are we almost there??”  this would be much funnier if you could hear me saying that while imitating Jackson’s voice.  We got about half way here and Jackson really started to get antsy.  Then when we were about an hour away he informed us that “he shouldn’t be in the car this long!”   That’s when I did the unthinkable and turned my camera over to him to take pictures.  He loved it and it kept him busy for a little bit.

WE FINALLY MADE IT!!!   Kaitlin & Zane’s house is adorable and they had roast beef sandwiches ready for us when we got here.   Yummy!   Ellie, Jackson & Briley immediately made themselves comfortable.  They broke in the guest room bed and had Kaitlin & Zane make them all sorts of treats.  It was pretty funny to watching the two girls boss around Kaitlin & Zane.

More fun news…the area that Kaitlin & Zane live in was declared a “disaster area” and majority of the town does not have power.  Kaitlin & Zane luckily got their power back yesterday afternoon, but their furnace broke and their cable/internet was out.  There’s like 15′ high snow piles, ice & fog everywhere.  It’s nuts.

So with no heat & limited sleeping space….last night was pretty funny but we made it through!  Then someone showed up this morning to fix the heat and then all of a sudden the cable/internet were back.  So, we’re in business :)  I did a little Valentine’s Day shoot for Ellie & Briley.  They were hysterical!!!  Those girls love to dance and be silly :)  Then Kaitlin & Zane drove a couple of us around town to see Carroll and all the devastation around town.   It really is a giant mess.  Then the girls took the kiddos to see The Tooth Fairy while I did photo editing at the house and the boys worked on dry walling Zane’s garage.

Now we’re just kinda hanging out before dinner (enchiladas and Margaritas…YES!!!) and then we are off for some bowling :)  I will take lots and lots of pictures then.

I decided to make a video/slideshow to show pictures from our trip thus far.  I selected the current popular song with all the nieces to go along with the slideshow.  It really makes no sense whatsoever and the pictures are not timed at all, but it’s still fun and it’s a quick way for me to show Ali & Andrew pictures of their little punks while they’re gone.  Enjoy!!

Guess who’s tired….THIS GIRL :)

Today was packed full of a meeting this morning, a trip to Wal-mart, a trip to home depot (all of this taking place in the disgusting/depressing weather that has engulfed Kirksville), lunch, a trip to Edina to do pictures of St. Joe for the re-dedication of the church, a trip back to Kirksville, a trip to Rider Drug, another trip to Wal-Mart to get the stuff I forgot, back home to set up for my Valentines day itty bitty shoots, first 4 shoots, grab a quick bite for dinner, next 4 shoots and then BAM…it’s 8:00!

The whole day was worth it though.  I got awesome pictures of St. Joe that I’m super excited about (I will post those soon) and then my itty bitty shoots went SO SO great!  I loved them all!  I ended up having 8 total and each one was so cute :)   I’m completely exhausted now, so I will let the pictures do the talking.  THANK YOU SO MUCH to all the families for coming out in this yucky weather.  I promise your pictures are worth it :)  Enjoy!!!!

and it is now 1:15 AM…..I’m going to bed :)

I’ll be back tomorrow.  Sleep tight!
